Dungeons and Dragons, often abbreviated as D&D, DnD or AD&D, is the first ever tabletop role-playing game in the medieval fantasy genre. The game was created in 1974 by Americans Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. Gygax also founded the first role-playing game publishing company, Tactical Studies Rules to publish his game.
